We describe the nuances of the two methods below.

Payment Option 1: Canadian EFT / ACH Transfer

EFT stands for "Electronic Funds Transfer". EFT payments are processed through the ACH (Automated Clearing House), a centralized architecture that connects financial institutions.

With EFT, money is sent directly from one bank account to another. EFT is a fast, secure, and convenient way to process transactions using the infrastructure built and monitored by Payments Canada (for more information, visit Payments Canada).

To perform an EFT transfer, we require the following information:

  • Institution number
  • Transit number
  • Account number

This information can be found through your online banking or on a (void) cheque. If you are unsure about your routing information, contact your bank.

Pre Authorized Debit Agreements

When uploading an EFT payment to a participating financial institution, Payments Canada requires businesses to obtain a Pre-Authorized Debit Agreement ("PAD"). When customers use the Jetpay checkout and select bank transfer we collect an electronic signature for the PAD and send a copy to your customer as required by Payments Canada H1 Rules.

Connecting to a Bank Account

We support two different methods for customers to connect to their bank account:

  1. Login with their online banking credentials
  2. Enter account information manually
